Bhopal Double Murder Solved: Brothers Arrested

The Bhopal police have solved the double murder case of an elderly couple, Hemant Barik and his wife Shakuntala, who were found dead in their Sudama Nagar residence on June 27. The Special Investigation Team (SIT) arrested two brothers, Shrikant Chichliya and Shashikant Chichliya, who allegedly killed the couple to grab their house through a forged gift deed.

The accused, Shrikant, a property broker, and his brother Shashikant, a physiotherapist, were arrested after they confessed to their crime. The police investigation was led by ACP Umesh Tiwari and included inspector Sandeep Pawar, inspector Ahirwar, and others. The team compared CCTV footage of two men seen near the crime scene on the night of the murders and matched their gait and body movements with the footage. This led to the identification of the suspects.

Shrikant has eight criminal cases registered against him at Shahpura police station. The police are also questioning Shivani, the wife of Shakuntala's brother Vinod, who had signed the gift deed as a witness. Investigators suspect that more people may have been involved in the conspiracy.
