The Women and Child Development Department of Thane Zilla Parishad has launched a suite of welfare initiatives aimed at empowering women and young girls in rural districts.

These initiatives include a technical skill development programme, which offers full fee reimbursements for female students from Classes 7 to 12 who complete the MS-CIT computer training course.

Another programme provides financial assistance for women to purchase essential commercial equipment, such as flour mills and sewing machines, with priority given to widowed, destitute, and disabled applicants.

The administration has also introduced a mobility grant to reimburse the cost of two-wheeler bicycles for school-going girls, and will recognise and felicitate young achievers who have demonstrated exceptional merit in academics, sports, or the arts.

To be eligible for these programmes, applicants must hold Below Poverty Line (BPL) status or have an annual household income below Rs 1,20,000. Required documents include proof of income, Aadhaar credentials, bank account details, and relevant educational or achievement certificates.

District Programme Officer Shobha Shelar stated that the department is committed to empowering women and young girls through education, skill acquisition, self-employment, and merit-based excellence.

The online application portal is now open, and eligible candidates are encouraged to submit their applications along with supporting documentation before the deadline of October 15, 2026.
