Newborn's Body Found in Cow Dung Heap in Burhanpur

A newborn baby's body was found in a heap of cow dung near a garbage site in Siwal village of Burhanpur district's Nepanagar area on Monday morning. The body was uncovered at 10 am after water overflowing from a village panchayat tank washed away part of the dung heap, revealing the infant's remains.

Villagers who spotted the body immediately informed the police, and Nepanagar police reached the spot to prepare a 'panchnama' and recover the body. Statements were also taken from villagers and panchayat representatives.

Nepanagar SDM Srijan Shrivastava and tehsildar Jagan Waskale inspected the site at 2 pm. The police are currently investigating who abandoned the newborn at the site.

According to Nepanagar police station in-charge Shahabuddin Qureshi, a case of unnatural death has been registered. Initial observations suggest the body is that of a baby girl, and further investigation is underway.

This incident is not isolated, as another newborn baby girl was found dead in bushes in Indore on the same day. The body was discovered with stray dogs roaming nearby, and Rajendra Nagar police conducted a panchanama and sent the body for post-mortem.

The discovery of these newborn bodies has raised concerns about infant abandonment and the need for support systems for new mothers.
