Rajasthan SOG Arrests 3 University Officials Over Fake Degree Racket

The Rajasthan Special Operations Group (SOG) has arrested three senior officials of Shri Satya Sai University of Technology and Medical Sciences in Madhya Pradesh.

The arrests are in connection with an alleged fake degree racket linked to the Physical Training Instructor (PTI) Recruitment Examination 2022.

The arrested officials include Mukesh Tiwari, the Vice-Chancellor of the university, Sanjay Rathore, the Controller of Examinations, and Anand Sharma, a computer operator.

They were brought to Jaipur and remanded to SOG custody for further interrogation.

The SOG investigation into the recruitment case revealed that several candidates had submitted forged degrees, while others used dummy candidates to clear the examination.

A breakthrough came after the arrest of Bharmal, a candidate who had secured selection through a dummy candidate.

During questioning, Bharmal admitted that he had obtained a degree from Shri Satya Sai University fraudulently, with retrospective records.

The SOG then obtained a court-issued search warrant and conducted a raid at the university, seizing academic records and computer data.

A forensic financial audit of the seized data revealed that the university had created two separate fee ledger accounts in Bharmal's name, with manipulated ledger entries.

This indicated deliberate fabrication of university documents.

According to SOG Additional Director General Vishal Bansal, the university issued degrees to 66 candidates who were successful in the Rajasthan PTI Recruitment 2022.

Preliminary findings suggest that most of these degrees were allegedly fabricated retrospectively and sold to candidates in exchange for lakhs of rupees.

The SOG is now scrutinising the remaining beneficiaries and examining the financial transactions linked to the alleged racket.

The investigation has shed light on the extent of the fake degree racket and the involvement of university officials.

The case highlights the need for strict vigilance and monitoring in recruitment processes to prevent such malpractices.
