Seven States Unite Against Cybercrime, Narcotics

The police chiefs of seven states and Union Territories met in Indore on Friday to discuss a joint strategy to fight cybercrime, narcotics networks, and organised crime.

The 13th Western Regional Police Coordination Committee meeting was attended by senior police officers from Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Goa, Dadra and Nagar Haveli, and Daman and Diu.

The meeting focused on security planning for Simhastha-2028, improving real-time intelligence sharing, and launching coordinated interstate operations.

The officers discussed key issues, including preparations for Simhastha-2028, tracing missing children, tackling cybercrime, controlling organised crime, and using modern technology in policing.

A major focus was placed on taking strict action against illegal narcotics and narcotic chemical networks operating across state borders.

The participating states agreed to share real-time intelligence, maintain continuous coordination, and appoint nodal officers in every state for regular monitoring and review of interstate crime cases.

The officials decided to prepare a joint action plan to target the illegal manufacturing, transportation, and use of narcotic chemicals through coordinated special operations.

Another important decision was to work with the higher education and school education departments to promote awareness among students on topics such as drug de-addiction, cyber safety, women's safety, and road safety.

The police chiefs shared databases of wanted and reward-carrying criminals to strengthen action against organised crime and interstate gangs.

They agreed to conduct joint exercises and coordinated operations in the future to improve the arrest of criminals operating across multiple states.

Representatives from different states presented successful case studies related to organised crime, women's safety, narcotics control, cybercrime, and the use of technology for identifying and arresting criminals.

The conference appreciated several innovations developed by Madhya Pradesh Police, including e-Sakshya, e-Vivechana, e-Rakshak, MedLEaPR, e-Summons, the anti-drug campaign, Safe Click, and Operation Muskaan.

The meeting concluded with a decision that the 14th Western Regional Police Coordination Committee meeting will be hosted by Goa Police.

The conference highlighted the commitment of all participating states to strengthen policing across western India and fight cybercrime, narcotics networks, and organised crime.

This joint effort is expected to have a significant impact on the security landscape of western India, particularly in the states of Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Goa, Dadra and Nagar Haveli, and Daman and Diu.
