Sayaji Hotel's food licence suspended, kitchen sealed after inspection. Serious irregularities found.

The district administration in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, suspended the food licence of Sayaji Hotel on Friday after a surprise inspection revealed serious irregularities. The inspection, conducted on Thursday, found lapses in food storage, temperature control, labelling, pest control, cleanliness, infrastructure, and licensing.
As a result, the district administration sealed the hotel kitchen. The action was taken after a team from the Food and Drug Administration, along with administrative officials, conducted surprise inspections at several establishments in the city.
The team, led by senior food officer Manish Swami, also inspected Signature Boutique Hotel, where they found several hygiene-related issues in the kitchen. The kitchen floor was damaged, and food storage arrangements were improper. Some food items lacked manufacturing and expiry dates, and medical fitness certificates for food handlers were not available.
The management of Signature Boutique Hotel was issued a notice and asked to submit a reply within seven days. Three samples of soybean oil, paneer, and flour were collected from the hotel for testing. Further action will be taken based on the reply and laboratory reports.
In another inspection, the team visited The Bhavans Prominent International School in Pipliya Kumar, where they collected five samples of tomato ketchup, vinegar, red chilli sauce, pav, and bhaji. The inspection found a damaged chopping board, a lack of medical fitness certificates for food handlers, and no water testing report.
All samples collected from the establishments have been sent to the food testing laboratory. Further action will be taken under the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006, based on the inspection findings and test reports.
The suspension of Sayaji Hotel's food licence and the sealing of its kitchen are a significant step towards ensuring food safety in the city. The district administration's actions demonstrate their commitment to enforcing food safety regulations and protecting the health of consumers.
The incident highlights the importance of regular inspections and monitoring of food establishments to prevent the sale of unsafe food. It also emphasizes the need for establishments to maintain proper hygiene and safety standards to avoid such actions.
