NEET UG Paper Leak: Coaching Owner Paid ₹5 Lakh For Questions

A significant development has emerged in the NEET UG 2026 paper leak case. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has alleged that Shivraj Raghunath Motegaonkar, the owner of a coaching centre in Latur, paid ₹5 lakh to procure leaked chemistry questions from a National Testing Agency (NTA) panel member.

The CBI made this allegation in a special court while responding to a bail application filed by Motegaonkar. According to the agency, Motegaonkar's son attended coaching classes conducted by P V Kulkarni, who was on the NTA panel that set the questions for the examination. The agency claims that Motegaonkar conspired with co-accused individuals to obtain the leaked chemistry questions prior to the exam.

The CBI has recovered Motegaonkar's phone, which contained 36 images with 132 handwritten chemistry questions. Upon analysis, the agency found that 111 of these questions matched with the questions in the NTA's master question sets prepared for NEET (UG) 2026. The metadata analysis revealed that these pictures were taken nearly 10 days before the May 3 NEET (UG) examination.

The agency has also recovered incriminating notes of chemistry questions relating to NEET UG 2026, allegedly in Motegaonkar's handwriting, from his mobile phone. Additionally, the money allegedly paid for sourcing the leaked questions was recovered by the CBI at the instance of co-accused Manoj Bhagwanrao Shirure.

So far, the CBI has arrested 13 individuals in connection with the case, all of whom are in judicial custody. The NEET UG 2026 examination was initially held on May 3, but the NTA cancelled it on May 12 amid allegations of paper leak. A re-exam was subsequently conducted on June 21.

The NEET UG examination is a crucial entrance test for medical admissions in India. The paper leak scandal has raised concerns about the integrity of the examination process and the measures in place to prevent such incidents. The CBI's investigation into the matter is ongoing, and the agency is working to uncover the extent of the leak and the individuals involved.

The incident has sparked widespread outrage and calls for action to prevent such incidents in the future. The government has faced criticism for its handling of the situation, and there have been demands for a more robust system to ensure the integrity of entrance examinations.

In the context of the NEET UG paper leak case, the CBI's allegations against Motegaonkar and the recovery of evidence from his phone and other sources are significant developments. The case highlights the need for vigilance and strict measures to prevent paper leaks and ensure the fairness of entrance examinations.

The NEET UG paper leak case has significant implications for medical aspirants and the education system as a whole. The incident has caused inconvenience and distress to thousands of students who appeared for the examination, and it has raised questions about the reliability of the examination process. The government and the NTA must take concrete steps to prevent such incidents in the future and ensure that the examination process is fair, transparent, and secure.

In conclusion, the NEET UG paper leak case is a serious incident that has raised concerns about the integrity of the examination process. The CBI's investigation and the recovery of evidence are crucial steps towards uncovering the truth and bringing those responsible to justice. The government and the NTA must take immediate action to prevent such incidents in the future and ensure that the examination process is fair, transparent, and secure.
