CM Urges Farmers To Adopt Modern Tech At Jhabua Event

Chief Minister Mohan Yadav on Sunday addressed farmers at the Balram Krishi Mahotsav in Jhabua, Madhya Pradesh, emphasizing the need to adopt modern technology and natural farming practices to make agriculture more profitable.
The Chief Minister praised Jhabua's agricultural traditions and its growing reputation for Kadaknath poultry and maize production. He highlighted the state's efforts to promote natural farming, with 50 Krishi Sakhis selected under the National Mission on Natural Farming and over 3,125 acres of land being used for natural farming with government certification.
Yadav also stressed the importance of dairy, goat rearing, poultry, and animal husbandry in providing farmers with a steady source of income. He mentioned the state's initiatives to promote Kadaknath under the 'One District, One Product' initiative, with over 1,000 new beneficiaries joining Kadaknath farming this year.
The Chief Minister discussed irrigation and crop development, highlighting the Narmada-Jhabua-Petlawad-Thandla Micro Lift Irrigation Project, which will irrigate nearly 32,000 hectares and benefit around 50,000 farmers upon completion. He also mentioned the increase in cotton sowing, which has reached 23,230 hectares during kharif 2026, a 16% increase from last year.
Yadav highlighted the benefits of the PM Mitra Park at Badnawar in Dhar district, which will improve market access for cotton growers. He also mentioned the tomato processing unit at Petlawad, where tomatoes grown on 2,812 hectares are processed into sauce and ketchup, with produce supplied to several states.
The Chief Minister cited the Meteorological Department's forecast of below-normal rainfall and directed officials to remain prepared to support farmers. He announced that crop loans of up to Rs 3 lakh are available at zero per cent interest, and dairy projects are eligible for a 33% subsidy of up to Rs 40 lakh.
During the programme, beneficiaries received assistance under various government schemes, and meritorious Class 10 students were honoured. Exhibitions showcased agricultural mechanisation, natural farming, and organic products.
