Pimpri-Chinchwad Residents Seek Joint Action On Traffic

Pimpri-Chinchwad residents have called for a joint action to address traffic congestion and infrastructure problems in the Hinjawadi IT Hub and Talegaon–Chakan–Khed industrial corridor.

The Pimpri-Chinchwad Cooperative Housing Societies Federation (PCCHSF) has demanded a non-political coordination committee to be formed under the guidance of the Pune Divisional Commissioner.

This committee would bring together IT employees, residents, industrial organisations, activists, and government agencies to tackle the traffic crisis.

PCCHSF President Sachin Londhe said that issues cannot be solved separately and a coordinated approach is necessary.

He also called for practical measures, clear timelines, and regular monitoring of infrastructure works.

A meeting was held with Bhosari MLA Mahesh Landge and representatives of the Forum for IT Employees, Chakan MIDC Entrepreneurs Association, and Traffic-Free Chakan Action Committee to discuss the traffic congestion and road infrastructure.

The meeting highlighted the need for a coordinated approach to solve the traffic problems in the region.

The federation plans to seek a meeting with Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis to review the progress of measures initiated to address traffic problems.

In July 2025, a meeting was held with Fadnavis, and the Pune Divisional Commissioner was appointed as the nodal officer to coordinate efforts.

However, progress has slowed due to land acquisition issues, encroachments, technical constraints, and administrative delays.

The federation has stressed the need for better traffic management at major congestion points and additional traffic police, wardens, and support staff.

Land acquisition for proposed road projects was also discussed, and the federation said that greater public awareness and cooperation from affected stakeholders would be required to complete such projects.

The residents and organisations have come together to demand a solution to the traffic crisis in the region.
