14 War Widows Honoured With ₹50,000 Aid At Vashi Programme

On Sunday, the Veer Jawan Foundation organised a Kargil Vijay Diwas programme at Vishnudas Bhave Natyagruha in Vashi, where 14 war widows were felicitated and provided with financial assistance of ₹50,000 each.

The event was attended by several dignitaries, including playback singer Shankar Mahadevan, Additional Commissioner Sameer Wankhede, and NSG Black Cat Commando Colonel Abhishek Kumar.

Shankar Mahadevan performed a series of patriotic songs, creating an emotional atmosphere that moved several war widows and members of the audience to tears.

The Foundation president, Suresh Kakade, thanked the volunteers and NCC cadets for their contribution to the successful organisation of the event.

In a separate programme, Karmaveer Bhaurao Patil College in Vashi paid homage to the soldiers who laid down their lives in the 1999 Kargil War.

Retired Colonel Naresh Kumar Goyal, who served in the Kargil conflict, shared his experiences from the battlefield, describing the challenges faced by Indian soldiers in the treacherous high-altitude terrain.

He expressed pride in the success of Operation Vijay, despite the extreme weather conditions.

Actor Mukesh Rishi attended the event as a special guest, which was presided over by college principal Dr. Shubhada Nayak.
