UP Promotes Women's Empowerment Through Awareness Programme

The Uttar Pradesh government has taken a significant step towards promoting women's empowerment and political participation in the state. A two-day seminar and essay competition was organized in Lucknow to raise awareness about the importance of women's role in the democratic system and their constitutional rights.

The programme was jointly organized by the Uttar Pradesh Bhasha Sansthan and Pt. Deen Dayal Upadhyay Government Women's Postgraduate College, Rajajipuram. Sarvesh Kumar Singh, Director of the Uttar Pradesh Bhasha Sansthan, emphasized the need to provide women with equal opportunities to make decisions, assume leadership, and express their views freely. He highlighted the significance of the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam-2023, which aims to make democracy more inclusive.

The Yogi Government has been consistently working towards advancing women's empowerment through security, education, self-reliance, and dignity. The programme is part of this effort, focusing on developing constitutional awareness and leadership capabilities among women. Around 75 students participated in the essay competition, which was held on the first day of the two-day programme.

The winners of the essay competition were honoured with certificates, mementoes, and cash prizes. Shivani Rawat, an M.A. First Year student, secured the first position, while Vasudha Yadav, a B.A. Third Year student, and Sanju, a B.A. Third Year student, secured the second and third positions respectively.

Principal Prof. Dr. Shivani Srivastava emphasized that the objective of education is not only to disseminate knowledge but also to develop constitutional values and responsible citizenship. The programme coordinators, Dr. Rashmisheel, Prof. Dr. Sanjeev Kumar Agrawal, and Dr. Sadhana Singh Yadav, highlighted the importance of women's participation in social, economic, and political decision-making processes.

The Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam-2023 is a significant initiative that aims to provide reservation for women in the Lok Sabha and State Legislative Assemblies. The 106th Constitutional Amendment has made provision for one-third of the seats to be reserved for women.
