Thane Police Seize ₹9.66 Crore Mephedrone, Arrest 4

In a significant crackdown against illicit narcotics, the Thane City Crime Branch's Anti-Narcotics Cell arrested four individuals in two separate operations on September 3, 2026. The police seized 2.823 kilograms of Mephedrone (MD) valued at approximately ₹9,66,37,210.

A case was registered at Kasarvadavali Police Station under the NDPS Act, and the suspects were remanded to police custody.

The second action occurred near the B.S.N.L. office in Kopri, Thane, where officers apprehended Abdul Rehman Moiddin Kadar Shaikh carrying 152 grams of MD valued at ₹2,30,40,000. Subsequent investigations led to the arrest of his supplier, Abidali Mohammad Wali Shaikh from Seawoods, Navi Mumbai.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Amar Singh Jadhav stated that the police are conducting a thorough investigation to identify the origin of the seized Mephedrone and trace the full distribution supply chain.
