Bengaluru Woman Held Captive, Filmed Semi-Naked Over ₹11 Lakh Loan

A shocking case of kidnapping and extortion has come to light in Bengaluru, where a 30-year-old woman was allegedly held captive for four days and filmed in a semi-naked condition to extort money over an unpaid loan. The woman had borrowed ₹50,000 from one Nazath Begam and ₹1 lakh from Reshma Banu about two years ago, but was unable to pay the instalments due to financial distress.

According to the First Information Report filed on August 31, 2026, the woman was lured to Nazath's house in Metro Layout on the pretext of offering her some work and money. However, when she arrived, she was assaulted and locked in the house along with her minor son. The accused, including Reshma Banu, her husband Suhel, and two others, demanded ₹11 lakh, including interest, and threatened her with a knife.

The woman and her child were then allegedly forced into an auto and taken to a house in Kumbalagodu, where she was beaten with a stick, abused, and wrongfully confined in a room. On August 29, 2026, the accused forced her to undress and recorded a video on a mobile phone, threatening to make it viral if she did not pay the money. Suhel also allegedly threatened to force her into prostitution to recover the money.

The woman's elder son was sent back to her mother's house on August 29, 2026, while she continued to be confined. On August 30, 2026, she was allegedly taken to a lawyer near City Market and made to sign some papers. However, on the afternoon of August 31, 2026, police personnel arrived at the house after receiving information and rescued her.

The accused, including Nazath Begam, Reshma Banu, Suhel, and Nazarath, have been arrested and a case has been registered against them under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the IT Act. The case has been registered as Cr. No. 283/2026 at Chandra Layout Police Station.
