UP Sets Up Japan Desk to Boost Investment and Tourism

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath held a meeting with officials from Invest UP and other departments on Monday to promote investment by Japanese companies and tourism. The meeting was a follow-up to a recent visit by a 240-member delegation from Japan, which created a positive atmosphere between Japan and Uttar Pradesh.

The Chief Minister stated that continuous dialogue between Japan and Uttar Pradesh should be maintained, and youth should be connected with employment through investment. He also sought information regarding land acquisition for the Japanese City under YEIDA, and was informed that out of 500 acres, acquisition of more than 350 acres of land has been completed.

The Chief Minister directed that this work be completed at the earliest and that a delegation from Uttar Pradesh should also be sent to various global events being held in Japan in September, October, and December. He also emphasized the need for programs for Japanese language training and skill development to be accelerated, and for employment opportunities for the youth of the state in various regions of Japan to be strengthened.

A separate Yamanashi Japan Desk is to be created in Invest UP, which will maintain continuous dialogue with Japan and provide progress reports every third month. The Chief Minister also directed that good facilities should be provided to Japanese tourists visiting Buddhist sites in Uttar Pradesh, and that a route should be developed to enable them to visit as many Buddhist sites as possible.

The Chief Minister also emphasized the need to establish a cultural connection between Uttar Pradesh and Japan, particularly between Sarnath and Nara, which are both included in the UNESCO World Heritage List. He directed that necessary steps be taken to promote bilateral tourism between tour operators of Uttar Pradesh and Yamanashi Prefecture, and that tourism activities in the Buddhist Circuit should be promoted on a large scale.
