Bhiwandi Mayor Evacuates 238 Dangerous Buildings

A major safety initiative has been launched in Bhiwandi following the recent collapse of the Kohinoor Apartment.

The Bhiwandi Nizampur City Municipal Corporation (BNCMC) has taken swift action to prevent similar incidents in the future.

At a disaster management review meeting, Mayor Narayan Choudhary directed officials to evacuate 238 buildings classified as extremely dangerous.

These buildings, categorized as C-1, pose a significant risk to occupants and will have their utility services disconnected.

In addition to the C-1 buildings, there are 836 buildings under the C-2A category that require urgent attention.

The Mayor has instructed officials to provide building owners and occupants with copies of the structural inspection panchnama along with evacuation notices.

Families displaced due to the evacuation will be provided with temporary accommodation and food in municipal buildings for five to six days.

The city's emergency response mechanism will also be strengthened to ensure a more effective response to disasters.

The BNCMC's initiatives aim to prevent similar tragedies and ensure the safety of Bhiwandi's residents.
