West Bengal CM Destroys 2 Lakh Seized Cough Syrup Bottles

West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari on Wednesday destroyed over 2 lakh seized cough syrup bottles in North Bengal's Balurghat. The bottles were crushed using a road roller as part of the 'Nasha Mukt Bharat' drive.

The event was attended by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP and MoS Sukanta Majumdar. The destroyed cough syrup bottles were seized over the past three months.

Adhikari stated that his message through this drive is to bring the youth out of drug addiction. He mentioned that a large quantity of narcotics has been seized since his government came to power from the Indo-Bangladesh border.

The Chief Minister also announced two major projects for South Dinajpur, including the operation of Balurghat airport and the proposed medical college and hospital. He expressed hope that Balurghat airport will be operational soon and mentioned that it was among the four airports handed over under the UDAN scheme.

Adhikari also reviewed the implementation of various social schemes for the people during a meeting. He aims to complete the projects before the next Lok Sabha election in 2029.
