Nashik Floods Continue For Third Day

The flood situation in Nashik district has continued for the third consecutive day due to heavy rainfall. The district has witnessed significant damage, including the collapse of 32 houses and damage to crops and transportation infrastructure.

A farmer from Ajmer Saundane in Baglan Taluka, Samadhan Sahadu Pagar, died of electrocution while starting a farm pump. In addition, one person each was injured in Igatpuri and Sinnar Talukas.

To ensure the safety of citizens, 429 people from Niphad Taluka were relocated to safer locations, including 170 from Saikheda, 134 from Chandori, and 125 from Chatori. The relocation efforts were carried out to protect citizens from the floodwaters.

The most serious damage occurred in Igatpuri, Niphad, Surgana, and Kalwan Talukas, with 9, 6, 5, and 4 houses collapsing, respectively. Two huts or sheds were also damaged in Surgana Taluka.

Agricultural damage was significant in the Ambewadi area due to a landslide, affecting approximately 8 farmers and 15 hectares of land in forest-belt areas, as well as about 40 farmers and 65 hectares of private land.

Damage assessments are currently underway in the presence of Circle Officers, Agriculture Assistants, and Talathis. The district administration is monitoring the situation and providing necessary relief operations in the affected areas.

Road closures have been reported in the Kaluste-Fodsewadi road in Igatpuri Taluka and the Gahale-Chinchda bridge in Surgana Taluka due to high water levels. However, traffic has been restored in several talukas, including Niphad, Peth, Kalwan, Trimbakeshwar, Dindori, Malegaon, Nashik, and Chandwad, after clearing blocked roads and floodwaters.

Water is being released from several dams, including Nandur Madhmeshwar Dam, Darna Dam, Holkar Bridge, Chankapur Dam, and Gangapur Dam, at rates of 49,066 cusecs, 8,858 cusecs, 8,801 cusecs, 7,591 cusecs, and 4,410 cusecs, respectively.

The district administration has kept emergency services on standby to respond to any further developments in the flood situation.
