Truck Overturns on Eastern Express Highway, Disrupts Traffic

A major traffic disruption occurred on the Eastern Express Highway in Mumbai on Friday morning when a truck overturned near Postal Colony in Chunabhatti. The incident happened in the early hours of the morning and led to heavy congestion on the southbound carriageway.

The overturned truck, which was lying on its side, was eventually lifted by a crane and removed from the roadway. Traffic police personnel were deployed to manage vehicular movement and ensure motorists could safely pass the affected stretch.

According to the Mumbai Traffic Police, traffic movement was slow at Postal Colony due to the overturned truck. The authorities posted updates on social media, informing commuters about the traffic situation. At around 8 am, the police tweeted that traffic movement was slow, and later, at around 10 am, they confirmed that normal traffic movement had been restored.

Fortunately, no injuries to the truck driver or any other person have been officially confirmed so far. The exact cause of the accident is yet to be ascertained. The incident led to slow-moving traffic for nearly two hours before recovery teams cleared the overturned truck and reopened the affected stretch for smooth vehicular movement.

This incident comes just a week after a major road mishap in Mumbai's Andheri West, where a BEST bus allegedly lost control and rammed into multiple vehicles, leaving at least two to three people injured. The bus driver reportedly claimed that the accident occurred after the vehicle's brakes allegedly failed.

The Eastern Express Highway is a critical route that connects Mumbai to other parts of the city and the state. Any disruption on this highway can cause significant traffic congestion and affect thousands of commuters. The Mumbai Traffic Police have been working to improve traffic management on this route, but accidents like these highlight the need for continued vigilance and safety measures.

The removal of the overturned truck and the restoration of normal traffic movement were a relief to commuters who were stuck in traffic for hours. The incident serves as a reminder of the importance of safe driving and the need for emergency services to be prepared to respond to such situations.

In recent years, Mumbai has seen a significant increase in traffic congestion due to the growing number of vehicles on the road. The city's infrastructure is struggling to keep up with the demand, and incidents like these highlight the need for improved traffic management and safety measures.

The Mumbai Traffic Police have been working to improve traffic flow and reduce congestion on the city's roads. However, accidents like these can still occur, and it is essential for commuters to be patient and follow traffic rules to ensure their safety and the safety of others.

In conclusion, the overturning of the truck on the Eastern Express Highway caused significant traffic disruption, but fortunately, no one was injured. The incident highlights the need for continued vigilance and safety measures on the city's roads and the importance of improving traffic management to reduce congestion and prevent such incidents in the future.
