Sachin Ahir Orders BMC to Fix Worli Civic Issues

Maharashtra Legislative Council Deputy Chairperson Sachin Ahir has instructed the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) to address the basic civic issues faced by Worli residents amidst ongoing development projects in the area.

Ahir recently held a review meeting with BMC Commissioner Ashwini Bhide to discuss the pending issues in Worli. The meeting covered various topics, including healthcare, traffic congestion, solid waste management, parking, and connectivity of flyovers and transport infrastructure.

Considering the growing population of Worli, Ahir proposed setting up a free maternity hospital and a specialized children's hospital on BMC land at Dhobighat. He also called for the Mata Ramai Ambedkar Hindu Crematorium to be made fully operational and for the smoke-exhaust system to be repaired to prevent inconvenience to nearby residents.

Ahir directed officials to remove obstructions on roads near the Acharya Atre Chowk Metro station and ensure that footpaths are made level and pedestrian-friendly. He also raised concerns over the upkeep of footpaths and gardens along the Coastal Road, where beautification work is being undertaken.

The meeting also discussed the removal of construction debris near Nehru Science Centre Metro station and the need for the MMRDA to hand over certain spaces to the BMC. Ahir demanded urgent completion of the link between the Saat Rasta Monorail bridge and the Metro station to reduce the inconvenience caused to commuters.

Additionally, Ahir sought lower parking charges at civic parking lots and discounted monthly passes for local residents. He emphasized that development in Worli should prioritize residents' interests and ensure that rehabilitation is protected.

The BMC has been instructed to take immediate steps to resolve these issues, and concerned civic officials have been asked to examine the problems and initiate necessary measures at the earliest.

Worli is undergoing significant development, with several major projects underway. The area is expected to see increased population growth, making it essential to address the civic issues promptly.

The meeting also included discussions on a proposed grand memorial for Rajarshi Chhatrapati Shahu Maharaj in Mumbai. Ahir's directives are expected to bring relief to Worli residents, who have been facing various civic issues.

In conclusion, Sachin Ahir's instructions to the BMC are a significant step towards addressing the civic issues in Worli. The area's residents can expect to see improvements in healthcare, traffic management, and other essential services. As development continues in Worli, it is crucial to prioritize the needs of the residents and ensure that their interests are protected.
