Maharashtra FDA Seizes Rs 25 Lakh Food Products

The Maharashtra Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has seized food products and other items worth Rs 25 lakh from various establishments in the state. This action was taken after inspections revealed poor hygiene and the presence of live rodents at some of these establishments.

The FDA inspected a total of 31 hotels and restaurants, and found violations of food safety regulations at many of them. As a result, five establishments have had their licences suspended.

In addition to the licence suspensions, 22 establishments were issued improvement notices, requiring them to take immediate action to correct the deficiencies found during the inspections.

The inspections also uncovered banned substances such as gutkha and pan masala, which were seized by the FDA. These substances are prohibited due to their harmful effects on health.
