UP Anganwadi Workers Get ₹12,000 Monthly Honorarium

The Uttar Pradesh government has announced a significant hike in the monthly honorarium for Anganwadi Workers and Helpers. As per the new arrangement, Anganwadi Workers will receive a total honorarium of ₹12,000 per month, while Helpers will receive ₹6,000 per month.

The Additional Chief Secretary, Women Welfare and Child Development, Leena Johri, issued a Government Order on Tuesday, outlining the revised honorarium structure. The state share for Anganwadi Workers has been enhanced by ₹1,500 as additional fixed honorarium and ₹2,500 as additional variable PLI honorarium. For Helpers, the state share has been increased by ₹750 as additional fixed honorarium and ₹1,250 as additional variable PLI honorarium.

Currently, Anganwadi Workers receive ₹8,000 per month, and Helpers receive ₹4,000 per month, combining the honorarium and incentive amount provided by the Government of India with the additional honorarium provided by the State Government. The enhanced honorarium will be effective from September 2026 and will be paid in October 2026.

The government has taken this decision in view of the increased responsibilities of Anganwadi Workers and Helpers, their role in Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE), nutrition services, and the growing use of digital platforms. The order also emphasizes the importance of convergence with various departmental schemes.

Additional Chief Secretary Leena Johri has directed the Director, Child Development Services and Nutrition, to ensure necessary action in accordance with the Government Order. Any future change in this arrangement will be subject to the approval of the Chief Minister, Uttar Pradesh.
