V Somanna Dedicates ₹31.5 Crore Road Over Bridge at Bangarapet

Union Minister of State for Railways and Jal Shakti, V. Somanna, has dedicated a newly constructed Road Over Bridge (ROB) near Bangarapet Railway Station, fulfilling a long-pending demand of the local people. The ROB, constructed at an approximate cost of ₹31.5 crore, will facilitate uninterrupted movement of road traffic and eliminate delays caused by the closure of the level crossing gate.

The Minister stated that infrastructure development in Railways and highways is a key aspect of the nation’s progress and is being accorded the highest priority. He also mentioned that the Central Government is now bearing 100% of the cost for constructing Road Over Bridges (ROBs) and Road Under Bridges (RUBs), instead of sharing the cost with State Governments.

In Karnataka, 707 ROBs and RUBs have been constructed since 2014. The Bangarapet and Malur railway stations are being redeveloped under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme. Additionally, works on the 24-km Marikuppam–Kuppam New Railway Line project are in progress, with a target completion date of March 2028. The Whitefield–Kolar New Railway Line project will also be taken up in the future.

The ROB, constructed by the Gati Shakti Unit of Bengaluru Division, comprises of 1 × 60 m Bow String Girder, 4 × 20 m PSC Solid Slab, and 5 × 20 m PSC Girder. The project is a significant step towards improving connectivity, reducing congestion, and ensuring safer and smoother transportation in the area.

Malleshbabu, Member of Parliament, Kolar, thanked the Minister for pursuing the work and getting it expedited, thereby fulfilling the long-pending demand and benefiting the people of the area.
