Kanwariyas Clash With Security At Ujjain Mahakal Temple

A group of Kanwariyas from Omkareshwar created chaos at the Mahakal Temple in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh, on Wednesday. The devotees, who were carrying Kanwars, demanded entry into the Nandi Hall and allegedly broke through the barricades when denied access.

The incident occurred when around 100 devotees, wearing black T-shirts with the names of the Bajrang Dal and the Vishwa Hindu Parishad, arrived at the temple from Khedighat in Omkareshwar. During darshan, some members of the group attempted to enter the restricted Nandi Hall, leading to a confrontation with security personnel.

The security personnel tried to stop the Kanwariyas, but they refused to comply, resulting in an escalation of the situation. The Kanwariyas allegedly jumped over the barricades and attempted to enter the restricted area, injuring four security personnel in the process. Two of the injured personnel sustained serious injuries to their legs and heads.

The injured security personnel were identified as Rohit Patidar, Abhishek, Vikram Malviya, Suresh Solanki, Jitendra, Mamta Bori, and Nisha. They suffered various injuries, including fractures, head injuries, and bleeding.

The Mahakaleshwar Temple Management Committee stated that the security personnel were also subjected to scuffling and physical assault during the incident. The committee added that the unruly individuals attempted to disrupt the temple's security and arrangements, damaging barricades and other crowd-control structures.

The police have registered an FIR against 30 people in connection with the incident. The temple guards and police officers detained those suspected of creating the disturbance and took them to the Mahakal police station.

The Mahakaleshwar Temple Management Committee said that those involved in the incident were being identified and legal action would be taken against them. The committee also stated that the incident was a serious breach of security and that measures would be taken to prevent such incidents in the future.
