MP Police Seize 11,000 Cannabis Plants Worth ₹1 Crore

Madhya Pradesh police seized over 11,000 illegally cultivated cannabis plants in a massive operation called 'Operation Green Strike' in the Sendhwa subdivision. The operation was conducted across 19 villages under the Varla police station, where 12 teams of over 400 police personnel searched for cannabis plants.

The search operation was conducted on Saturday, with the help of drones that scanned the areas for suspicious fields. The police found cannabis plants growing in five fields, which weighed over 23 quintals and were estimated to be worth more than ₹1 crore.

Police personnel from Khargone and Khandwa districts joined the Barwani police in the operation. The teams had to trek through forests and hills to reach the areas where the cannabis plants were found.

The police have registered five cases under Section 8/20 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, after discovering the cannabis plants in five separate fields. The fields are located on forest land, and further action is being taken after obtaining information about leaseholders and encroachers from the forest department.

This operation follows another major seizure on September 10, when police recovered over 6,000 cannabis plants from four fields in the Shakkarkua-Borpadava area. In total, police have registered nine cases and seized more than 34 quintals of illegally cultivated cannabis over the two days.
