Central Railway Earns 136.10 Crores From Scrap Sale

Central Railway has achieved a significant milestone in its 'Mission- Zero Scrap Status' initiative, earning 136.10 crores from scrap sales in the first quarter of the financial year 2026-27. This amount was generated from the sale of various categories of scrap and waste materials, including rail permanent-way sleepers, ferrous and non-ferrous scrap, and condemned coaches and wagons.

The CR Stores Department undertook intensive drives to identify and dispose of scrap materials lying at remote and scattered locations across all five divisions of Central Railway. These efforts resulted in a remarkable surge in sales performance, with the Mumbai division emerging as the leading performer, recording the highest scrap sale amounting to 22.43 crores.

The other divisions also contributed significantly to the scrap sale earnings, with Bhusaval division recording 20.44 crores, Nagpur division recording 19.98 crores, Pune division recording 18.19 crores, and Solapur division recording 6.44 crores. Additionally, the Parel and Matunga Workshops and sheds/units at other locations on Central Railway collectively contributed 48.62 crores towards scrap sale earnings.

This achievement marks a significant increase of 89% against scrap sale revenue for the first quarter in comparison to the last financial year. In the first quarter of the previous financial year, Central Railway had earned 71.94 crores from scrap sales.
