A tragic incident occurred in Navi Mumbai on Sunday evening when a 26-year-old man, Sumit Yashwant Pawar, drowned while attempting to rescue his friend, Nayan Mhatre, who was swept away in the swollen Vaghachiwadi river near Dodhani village in Panvel taluka. The incident took place around 5:30 pm when a group of 11 friends from Vichumbe had gone to the river for a monsoon outing.
