CM Yogi Adityanath Counters Rahul Gandhi Over Manusmriti Remarks

CM Yogi Adityanath launched a sharp attack on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi during a ceremony in Lucknow, reacting to his remarks on Manusmriti.

CM Yogi said that as the Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi should demonstrate accountability towards democracy and the Constitution. He advised Rahul Gandhi to read the Atharvaveda, Shatapatha Brahmana, and Matsya Purana to understand Manu.

He added that no person goes through life without receiving care and protection of women in the form of a mother, sister, wife, or daughter. India's tradition concerning relationships between men and women needs to be understood in its broader context rather than viewed selectively.

CM Yogi alleged that Rahul Gandhi has taken an oath to uphold the Constitution, yet considers it his birthright to criticize India's traditions and heritage. He also alleged that Rahul Gandhi goes outside Uttar Pradesh and defames the state, and goes outside India to insult the country.

The Chief Minister said that children and young people should not be led in a direction that could later force their parents or families to apologize. He referred to alleged abusive remarks against the Prime Minister at Jantar Mantar, saying that the girl concerned and her mother later withdrew the remarks and apologized.

CM Yogi said that the Prime Minister is not merely an individual but a constitutional institution of India. Therefore, using abusive language against the Prime Minister amounts to insulting not only an individual but also the institution and the country.

The Chief Minister accused Rahul Gandhi of allowing urban Naxals to damage the future of the present generation and questioned why he wanted to destroy India's heritage and jeopardize the country's future. He said that the country had expected Rahul Gandhi, as Leader of Opposition, to play a positive and responsible role, but alleged that he had completely distanced himself from his responsibilities.

CM Yogi also questioned the Congress's commitment to democracy, citing the Emergency imposed in 1975. He said that Amethi and Raebareli had supported the Gandhi family for decades, but the same family had also created an identity crisis for the region.

The Chief Minister said that it was now for the people to decide what kind of politics and leadership were required for development. He alleged that the Congress had shown greater interest in naming monuments and institutions after one family than in honoring great freedom fighters.

In conclusion, CM Yogi Adityanath's remarks highlight the ongoing debate between the BJP and the Congress over issues of tradition, heritage, and democracy. The exchange between the two leaders reflects the deeper divisions within Indian politics and the challenges of navigating the country's complex cultural and historical landscape.

The significance of this exchange lies in its implications for the future of Indian politics and the role of opposition leaders in shaping the country's discourse. As the country continues to grapple with issues of identity, heritage, and democracy, the debate between CM Yogi Adityanath and Rahul Gandhi serves as a reminder of the importance of responsible leadership and the need for constructive dialogue in Indian politics.
