In a major drug bust, the Kalukheda police in Ratlam, Madhya Pradesh, seized approximately 2.495 kg of MD drugs and a Creta car used for smuggling. The combined value of the seized items is estimated to be around ₹2.70 crore.
The police action was taken after receiving a tip-off about a large MD consignment being transported in a black Creta car from Behpur-Mandsaur to Riyawan. A team led by SI Dinesh Rathore, in-charge of Mavta outpost, set up a blockade at Ranigaon crossing to intercept the vehicle.
However, the driver of the car sped off on spotting the police, leading to a chase. The suspects fled via Chipiya to Bilandpur on a dirt track and abandoned the car in a forested patch before escaping into the darkness. Despite a search of nearby fields and bushes, the suspects managed to evade arrest.
A search of the abandoned vehicle uncovered three packets in a cloth bag under the driver's seat, containing MD. The police have registered a case under Section 8/22 of the NDPS Act and are probing the source, suppliers, and buyers of the drugs.
Lakhan Meena from Bhakarkhedi and his two accomplices remain absconding. The police operation was led by SHO Shankar Singh Chauhan and SI Dinesh Rathore.
In a separate development, Collector Ajay Katesaria visited the Mega Industrial Park/Smart Industrial Township in Ratlam to review industrial activity and infrastructure development. The park, spread across approximately 1,466.679 hectares, aims to attract large-scale investment and generate local employment through modern industrial infrastructure.
The collector inspected the Fujiyama Solar Plant and examined robotic machines manufactured in Japan and China. He also visited the under-construction LNJ Green PET plant and reviewed ongoing infrastructure construction and industrial development in the investment zone.
