Mumbai Customs Arrests Surat Man For Smuggling ₹2 Crore Weed

Mumbai Airport Customs on Sunday arrested Abhishek Tailor, a resident of Surat, Gujarat, for allegedly smuggling ₹2 crore worth of hydroponic weed from Bangkok. The seizure was made after Tailor arrived at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMI) from Bangkok.

According to Customs sources, Tailor was intercepted in the arrival hall based on specific intelligence. A Customs team led by officer Alok Kumar then escorted him to the CCTV room at the airport, where his trolley bag was searched. Inside the bag, officers found eight triple-layered plastic vacuum-sealed packets containing 6.6 kilograms of green colored dry leafy substance, purported to be hydroponic weed.

Tailor admitted to non-declaration, concealment, and recovery of the narcotics substance for monetary consideration during a voluntary statement. He was then placed under arrest. The investigation is ongoing to trace the drug network involved in the smuggling.
