Habitual Thief Arrested in Bhikangaon, Rs 2.40 Lakh Jewellery Recovered

A habitual offender was arrested by Bhikangaon police in Madhya Pradesh on Thursday, and stolen gold and silver jewellery worth around Rs 2.40 lakh was recovered. The arrest was made in connection with a house burglary that took place on Wednesday.

The incident occurred when Rakesh, a resident of Tokenbeda, returned home to find his belongings scattered and two iron boxes missing. The boxes contained silver ornaments and Rs 21,000 in cash. Based on the leads gathered during the investigation, police detained Rahul Singh Sawner, a resident of Kalyakhedi, and questioned him.

During interrogation, Rahul confessed to the theft, following which the stolen jewellery was recovered and seized. Police records show that Rahul has nine previous cases registered against him, including theft and Arms Act offences, at various police stations in the area.
