ABVP Protest Turns Violent At Bhopal DPI Office
ABVP workers protest at DPI office, commissioner allegedly manhandled. Protest over primary teacher posts turns unruly.

A protest by primary teacher candidates at the Directorate of Public Instruction (DPI) office in Bhopal turned violent on Thursday when ABVP workers allegedly manhandled Commissioner of Public Instruction Abhishek Singh.
The incident occurred when around 40 ABVP workers reached the DPI office to support the protesting candidates, who have been staging a dharna outside the office for nearly 15 days.
The protesters are demanding an increase in the number of posts, citing that despite being selected in the Primary Teacher Selection Examination 2025, they are being denied appointment due to issues related to their DEd qualification and existing recruitment rules.
According to sources, the ABVP workers first staged a protest on the premises and later entered the office, where they allegedly attempted to enter the commissioner's chamber.
The situation turned tense when they entered the chamber, allegedly using abusive and objectionable language against the commissioner and getting into physical altercations with officials.
DPI employees and officials also had a physical confrontation with the ABVP workers as the situation spiralled out of control.
Following the incident, DPI officials and employees protested against the demonstrators entering the office, demanding adequate security for officials and staff and strict action against those responsible for the alleged misbehaviour and physical altercation.
The employee organisations warned that if adequate security is not ensured, DPI employees will begin a symbolic work-to-rule protest from August 21.
Commissioner of Public Instruction Abhishek Singh said discussions are being held with the protesting teachers and their concerns are being heard.
He added that talks had also been held with the selected teachers earlier and the channel of dialogue remains open.
The incident highlights the growing unrest among primary teacher candidates in Madhya Pradesh, who are seeking an increase in the number of posts available.
The state government has been facing pressure to address the issue, with protests and demonstrations being held across the state.
The incident also raises concerns about the safety and security of government officials and employees, who are often targeted by protesters.
In recent months, there have been several incidents of violence and intimidation against government officials in Madhya Pradesh, highlighting the need for increased security measures.
The state government has promised to take action against those responsible for the incident and to ensure the safety and security of its employees.
The incident is likely to have significant implications for the state government, which is already facing criticism for its handling of the primary teacher recruitment process.
The opposition has been quick to condemn the incident, calling for the state government to take immediate action to address the concerns of the protesting teachers.
The incident is a reminder of the need for peaceful and respectful dialogue between protesters and government officials, and the importance of ensuring the safety and security of all individuals involved.
