UP To Create 1,000-Expert Network For Cow Dung Energy

The Uttar Pradesh government has taken a significant step towards utilising cow dung as a resource for energy, organic fertiliser, and rural income. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, a technical cooperation MoU has been signed between the Uttar Pradesh Goseva Aayog and 'Partners in Prosperity' (PNP) to achieve this goal.

The MoU aims to convert cow dung available in gaushalas into clean energy, organic fertiliser, natural farming inputs, and a source of income. Technical support will be provided to the Deenbandhu Model Biogas Plants already established in the state, and a strong technical framework will be developed for future plants.

As part of this initiative, a network of 1,000 technical experts will be created to make gaushalas self-reliant through the scientific and economic utilisation of cow dung. This network will support the installation, operation, maintenance, technical training, and field monitoring of Deenbandhu Biogas Plants.

The organisation has already constructed over 3,900 Deenbandhu Biogas Units in Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand. The new initiative envisages the development of an entire value chain encompassing biogas, bio-slurry, organic fertiliser/bio-inputs, natural and regenerative agriculture, and carbon benefits.

The Chairman of the Uttar Pradesh Goseva Aayog, Shyam Bihari Gupta, stated that cow dung should be viewed as an important resource for energy, organic agriculture, and rural income. The technical strengthening and implementation of the Deenbandhu Biogas Model on a large scale can be a game-changer for the rural economy.
