Uttar Pradesh Attracts ₹2.5 Lakh Crore Investment

Uttar Pradesh, once a marginal player in India's industrial landscape, has emerged as a prime destination for global investors. The state's vast population of 25 crore, combined with its modern infrastructure, strong law and order, and clear roadmap to becoming a one trillion dollar economy, has made it an attractive choice for investors.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's successful visit to Japan in February 2026 marked a significant milestone in the state's economic transformation. During the Tokyo Roadshow, the Chief Minister presented the state's Make-in-UP vision, which resulted in the signing of MoUs worth around ₹1 lakh crore with Japanese companies. Additionally, investment proposals worth more than ₹1.5 lakh crore were received from leading Japanese companies such as Kubota, Spark Minda, Toyo Denso, and Nagase.

The Uttar Pradesh government has also announced plans to establish a 'Green Hydrogen Centre of Excellence' in collaboration with Yamanashi University, with the cooperation of IIT Kanpur, IIT BHU, and HBTU. Furthermore, a special 'Japan City' is being developed on 500 acres of land in the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) area near Noida International Airport (Jewar). This integrated industrial township will serve as a plug-and-play platform for Japanese companies and their suppliers.

The 'UP-Japan Investment Summit 2026', currently underway in Delhi-NCR, has brought together over 200 top Japanese representatives, CEOs, and policymakers to discuss business relations between the two sides. The summit is a testament to the state's efforts to become a hub for global investment.

The economic transformation of Uttar Pradesh is the result of visionary policies, connectivity, and a better governance model. The 'Zero Tolerance'-based law and order policy has eliminated the fear of criminals in the state, giving investors confidence in their security. The single-window portal 'Nivesh Mitra', sector-specific policies, and exemptions from several NOCs for MSME units for up to 1000 days have also eliminated red-tapism in the state.

Uttar Pradesh's world-class expressways and logistics connectivity have also played a significant role in attracting investors. The state is home to 60% of the country's total expressway network, with 17 operational or proposed domestic airports, 5 international airports, and the country's largest rail network.

The state's economic transformation is expected to have a significant impact on the country's economy. With its strong infrastructure, favorable business environment, and skilled workforce, Uttar Pradesh is poised to become a major driver of India's economic growth.

In conclusion, Uttar Pradesh's emergence as a hub for global investment is a testament to the state's efforts to create a favorable business environment. With its modern infrastructure, strong law and order, and clear roadmap to becoming a one trillion dollar economy, the state is expected to attract even more investors in the future.
