Pune Police Detain Woman, Teen in Auto-Rickshaw Theft

A 25-year-old woman and a 15-year-old girl were detained by the Pimpri-Chinchwad Crime Branch on Tuesday, September 1, in connection with the alleged theft of an auto-rickshaw. The incident occurred within the jurisdiction of Nigdi police station.

The woman, identified as Zoya Zuber Gazi, is a resident of Gandhi Nagar Slum in Dehu Road. The identity of the minor has not been disclosed to protect her privacy.

According to police officials, a team from Crime Branch Unit One was patrolling the area, searching for suspects involved in housebreakings and vehicle thefts, when they received information about the woman and the minor. The two were detained and questioned, and their inquiry indicated that the auto-rickshaw had allegedly been stolen with the assistance of Abhishek Ravindra Sutar.

Sutar, a resident of Sainagar, Thomas Colony, Dehu Road, is currently absconding, and efforts are underway to trace him. The police have seized the allegedly stolen auto-rickshaw and registered a case at Nigdi police station.

Senior Police Inspector Rameshwar Motale said that the Crime Branch is investigating the allegations against the suspects. The police are working to gather more evidence and build a strong case against the accused.
