Mumbai Coastal Road Project Picks Up Pace

The Mumbai Coastal Road (North) project, which aims to connect Dahisar and Bhayandar, is gaining pace with piling and pile-cap work for the bridge foundation currently underway. The project is expected to be completed by December 2028.

The civic body, BMC, has set up a state-of-the-art casting yard in Bhayander to manufacture precast concrete structural components required for the project. So far, 60 piles, five pile caps, four piers, pier caps, and nine bridge segments have been completed.

Additional Municipal Commissioner (Projects) Abhijit Bangar recently inspected the casting yard and reviewed the project's progress. He directed officials to expedite land acquisition and stressed the importance of adhering to safety protocols.

The mega project spans around 60 km, including interchanges and connector roads, and will link Versova and Bhayandar through a coastal road corridor. The project is divided into seven packages and is expected to reduce travel time between Versova and Bhayandar from 90-120 minutes to just 15-20 minutes.
