Panvel Municipal Corporation Approves School, Road Projects

The Standing Committee of the Panvel Municipal Corporation (PMC) approved several infrastructure and welfare proposals on Thursday. The committee, chaired by Chairman Baban Mukadam, sanctioned the construction of a municipal school at Sector 19 in Kamothe and a bituminous road and stormwater drain from the Panvel Fire Station to Final Plot No. 41 in Panvel city.

The committee also approved variation estimates for the development of a playground on Final Plot No. 414 within the PMC limits. Additionally, a proposal to deploy 111 personnel to assist in the removal of encroachments and unauthorised constructions was approved.

The Women and Child Welfare Department's proposal to organise training and awareness programmes for women's entrepreneurship and social empowerment was also cleared. The committee further approved extending the contract for hiring vehicles on a rental basis for municipal operations by four months.

However, the committee deferred several significant proposals, including the empanelment of municipal consultants for a five-year period. Decisions on revised administrative approvals for the repair and renovation of public toilets, repairs and rehabilitation of sewerage pipelines, and servicing and repair of water supply pumps were also postponed.

A proposal for the construction of an RCC drain and road concretisation from Taloja Phase II to the Ghot Koyanavele bridge in Ward No. 1 was cancelled by the committee. The meeting was attended by committee members, Additional Commissioners, and other senior officials.
