Raigad Schools Closed On July 7 Amid Red Alert
Raigad district declares holiday due to heavy rain warning. All schools and colleges to remain closed.

The Raigad district administration has declared a holiday for all educational institutions, including anganwadis, schools, and colleges, on July 7. This decision was made in response to the India Meteorological Department's Red Alert warning for extremely heavy rainfall in the district.
The order was issued by Raigad District Collector and District Magistrate Kishan N. Jawale, who has the power to declare school holidays based on local weather conditions under the Disaster Management Act, 2005. According to the notification, the IMD has forecast heavy to very heavy rainfall at several places and extremely heavy rainfall at isolated locations in Raigad between July 5 and July 7.
The district has been experiencing continuous rainfall since July 1, prompting all tehsildars to recommend the closure of educational institutions as a precautionary measure. As a result, all anganwadis, primary, secondary, and higher secondary schools, as well as all colleges in Raigad district, will remain closed on July 7.
The Collector's notification stated that the decision to declare a holiday was made in the interest of students' safety, considering the continuous rainfall and the Red Alert issued by the IMD. However, headmasters, teachers, and non-teaching staff are required to remain present during office hours and perform disaster management duties as directed by the local administration.
The holiday declaration is expected to affect thousands of students and staff members across the district. The administration's decision is aimed at ensuring the safety of students and preventing any potential accidents or disruptions due to the heavy rainfall.
The Raigad district administration's move is a precautionary measure to mitigate the risks associated with heavy rainfall. The district has been witnessing continuous rainfall, and the Red Alert warning indicates a high level of danger. By declaring a holiday, the administration is taking a proactive approach to ensure the safety of students and staff members.
In related news, the continuous rainfall in the district has caused disruptions in various parts of Raigad. The administration is closely monitoring the situation and is taking necessary measures to prevent any accidents or damage. The public is advised to stay indoors and avoid traveling unless necessary.
The holiday declaration will be in effect for one day, and educational institutions are expected to resume normal operations on July 8, unless further instructions are issued by the district administration. The administration will continue to monitor the weather situation and take necessary decisions to ensure public safety.
