Indore Officials Collect 17 Food Samples For Testing

In a recent food safety drive, officials from the Food Safety Administration in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, collected 17 food samples from four establishments, including schools and food establishments. The inspections were conducted after receiving complaints through various helplines and portals.

The drive was initiated after complaints were filed through the Collector Helpline, CM Helpline, and the FoSCoS portal. Officials visited Vedant International School on Chhota Bangarda Road, where they collected four samples, including black gram, cooked rice, Manchurian, and black salt. The inspection revealed that the school was serving Manchurian containing MSG to its students. Additionally, rotten potatoes were found in the kitchen and were destroyed on the spot. The school was also found to be lacking medical fitness certificates for food handlers and a water quality test report.

At Praji De Kulche in New Palasia, officials collected samples of rajma, cooked chole, and flour. Three samples, including tandoori chicken, gravy, and dosa batter, were collected from Pakshala - The Andhra Kitchen. An inspection at Jain Shree Restaurant near Indus Satellite Railway Bridge found poor cleanliness on the premises, and seven samples, including dal, gravy, groundnut oil, garam masala, red chilli powder, salt, and cooked noodles, were collected. The restaurant was instructed to improve hygiene and follow food safety standards.

All 17 samples have been sent to the State Food Testing Laboratory in Bhopal for testing. Further legal action will be taken based on the test reports. The food safety drive aims to ensure that food establishments in Indore adhere to safety standards and provide safe food to consumers. The drive is a part of the ongoing efforts to maintain food safety in the city.

The inspections and sample collection are expected to have a significant impact on the food establishments in Indore. The establishments that fail to meet the safety standards may face legal action, which could affect their business. On the other hand, the drive is expected to benefit consumers by ensuring that they have access to safe food.

The Food Safety Administration has urged consumers to report any complaints or concerns about food safety to the helplines and portals. The administration is committed to taking prompt action against establishments that fail to meet safety standards. The food safety drive is an ongoing process, and officials will continue to conduct inspections and collect samples to ensure that food establishments in Indore adhere to safety standards.

In related news, Indore has also begun a trial run of PM e-buses, which is expected to improve public transportation in the city. However, the food safety drive remains a priority, and officials are working to ensure that food establishments in the city meet the required safety standards.
