Palghar MLA Orders Road Repairs Before Ganeshotsav

Palghar MLA Rajendra Gavit has ordered the Public Works Department (PWD) and contractors to complete road repairs in the district before the upcoming Ganeshotsav festival.

Gavit held a review meeting at the Government Rest House in Palghar, where he instructed officials and contractors to expedite repair works and fill potholes to ensure safe travel for citizens during the festive season.

The MLA pointed out that traffic movement increases significantly during Ganeshotsav, and therefore, it is essential to take immediate corrective measures to prevent accidents and inconvenience to commuters.

Gavit directed officials and contractors to prioritize the filling of potholes and repair of damaged stretches before the festival. He emphasized that citizens should be provided with better and safer roads during the festive period.

The MLA also made it mandatory for contractors to install information boards at every ongoing road work site, which should clearly mention details such as the nature of the work, the contractor undertaking it, and the concerned department.

While interacting with contractors, Gavit stressed the need to improve the quality of road works. He advised contractors to respond to criticism through quality work rather than being distracted by public or political criticism.

Gavit expressed strong dissatisfaction over the condition and quality of road works in certain areas, including Jawhar, Mokhada, Dahanu, and Talasari. He noted that the quality of road construction was extremely poor in several locations, affecting residents of remote and tribal areas.

The MLA raised concerns about allegations of bills being generated without corresponding work being carried out on the ground and the possibility of irregularities and duplication of works.

Ganeshotsav is a significant festival in Maharashtra, and the state government is taking measures to ensure that citizens can celebrate it safely and smoothly.
