Hinjewadi Metro Launch Delayed Again

The launch of the Hinjewadi-Shivajinagar Metro in Pune has been delayed beyond its planned July 15 date.

The delay is due to the pending safety clearance from the Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety (CMRS).

The CMRS has completed its mandatory inspection of the 12-station stretch between Maan and Balewadi. However, the final safety report and certificate are still awaited.

According to Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) Commissioner Abhijit Chaudhari, the metro will take at least 15 days to become operational after the safety report is received.

Chaudhari will inspect all 12 stations before the launch to ensure any pending work is completed.

The delay is the latest setback for the 23-km metro corridor, which has already missed several completion deadlines.

Earlier this year, the Maharashtra government decided to open the project in phases, with the Maan-Balewadi section planned for the first phase.

The recent CMRS inspection was the final statutory safety check after earlier inspections carried out in May.

Once the final clearance is received, the launch date will be decided in consultation with the state government.

The project's timeline has been revised multiple times, with the first phase initially expected to open in May, then postponed to the end of June, and later rescheduled for July 15.

The continued delay has disappointed thousands of daily commuters, especially IT professionals who travel to Hinjewadi.

Many commuters have been waiting for the metro for months and continue to face heavy traffic along the route.

The repeated changes to the launch schedule have tested public patience, with many hoping the metro service will finally begin soon.

The Hinjewadi-Shivajinagar Metro is expected to provide relief to commuters who currently face heavy traffic congestion in the area.

The metro project is a significant infrastructure development for Pune, aiming to improve the city's transportation system.

The delay in the launch of the metro has raised concerns among commuters and residents, who are eagerly waiting for the project to be completed.

In conclusion, the delay in the launch of the Hinjewadi-Shivajinagar Metro is a significant setback for the city of Pune.

The pending safety clearance has pushed back the launch date, leaving commuters to wait even longer for the metro service to begin.

The Maharashtra government and the PMRDA must work together to ensure the project is completed as soon as possible, providing relief to the thousands of commuters who are eagerly waiting for the metro service to start.
