Ashok Kumar

Golden Age 1936–1997

Affectionately called “Dadamoni,” Ashok Kumar was among the first true stars of Indian cinema and a pioneer of naturalistic screen acting. His career spanned from the 1930s studio era to television’s early days. He remained a beloved, versatile presence for over six decades.

Honours: Dadasaheb Phalke Award (1988); Padma Bhushan.
