Ujjain Commissioner Suspends Mandsaur CMHO Over Corruption

The Ujjain Divisional Commissioner, Asheesh Singh, has suspended the Chief Medical and Health Officer (CMHO) of Mandsaur, Dr Govind Singh Chauhan, due to allegations of corruption and financial irregularities.

The suspension was made after an inquiry committee submitted a report to Mandsaur Collector Aditi Garg, highlighting various complaints from public representatives, officials, and the media.

The report cited prima facie evidence of financial irregularities, unauthorised payments, and delays in the outsourcing tender process. It also mentioned the failure to produce records under the PCPNDT Act and suspected irregularities in the approval and inspection of private hospitals and nursing homes.

During the suspension, Dr Chauhan will remain attached to the Mandsaur Collector's Office. ENT specialist Dr RK Dwivedi has been given additional charge of the CMHO post until further orders.

Separate investigations into alleged irregular payments, recruitment irregularities, Lokayukta complaints, and delays in resolving public grievances are also underway against the health department.
