Jaipur School Releases CCTV Footage Of Amayra Before Suicide
CCTV footage shows Amayra seeking help, teacher ignoring pleas. Family alleges school negligence.

A CCTV footage from Neerja Modi School in Jaipur has been released by the family of nine-year-old Amayra, who died by suicide in 2025. The footage allegedly shows Amayra repeatedly seeking help from her class teacher, Punita Sharma, before running out of the classroom in distress.
According to Amayra's parents, the footage shows their daughter approaching the teacher after classmates allegedly showed her something inappropriate on a digital slate. However, the teacher allegedly ignored her pleas and threatened disciplinary action.
Amayra's mother, Shivani Meena, described the footage, saying her daughter was 'running to save her life' as she moved through the school building. She claimed that no one stopped Amayra until she reached the fourth floor, where she allegedly jumped to her death.
The family has expressed dissatisfaction with the investigation, claiming that only the teacher has been appropriately charged, while the principal and school owner have been booked under lesser provisions. The Jaipur Police filed the chargesheet on July 1, charging teacher Punita Sharma under Section 75 of the Juvenile Justice Act.
The family alleges that the school's response was inadequate and that the investigation has failed to hold all those responsible accountable. The release of the footage has raised serious questions about the school's response in the moments leading up to the incident.
The family's allegations have sparked concerns about school safety and the need for schools to take student complaints seriously. The case is currently under investigation, and the family is seeking justice for their daughter's death.
