India Protests Iranian Missile Strike

India has summoned the Iranian Deputy Chief of Mission to protest a missile strike that killed an Indian seafarer in the Strait of Hormuz. The attack occurred when two merchant tankers, the Al Mombasa and Al Bahiyah, were exiting the Strait's southern shipping lane.

The Ministry of External Affairs expressed its deepest concerns and strongly condemned the attack. MEA spokesman Randhir Jaiswal stated that one Indian citizen lost his life, and nine others were injured, with two in critical condition.

The two vessels were carrying 30 Indian seafarers among their combined crew of 46. The Indian government has extended its condolences to the family of the deceased and wishes a speedy recovery to those injured.

The MEA has also reiterated its deep concern over the resumption of attacks and escalation of hostilities in the West-Asian region. India has called for an immediate cessation of violence and a return to dialogue and diplomacy to restore peace, security, and stability in the region.

The targeting of commercial shipping and civilian infrastructure in the region must cease to allow for free and unimpeded navigation and commerce through international waterways. This is in keeping with international law, and India has urged for its restoration at the earliest.

A UN report last month stated that 14 seafarers had died in the Strait since the conflict began in February. This latest casualty brings the total to 15.

The Indian government is closely monitoring the situation and is in touch with the UAE authorities to ensure all possible assistance to the affected Indian seafarers.

The attack on commercial vessels has significant implications for global trade and navigation. The Strait of Hormuz is a critical waterway, and any disruption to shipping lanes can have far-reaching consequences.

India's strong protest against the Iranian missile strike reflects its commitment to protecting the interests of its citizens and upholding international law. The government's call for a return to dialogue and diplomacy is a step towards restoring peace and stability in the region.

The incident highlights the need for increased cooperation and diplomacy among nations to prevent such attacks and ensure the safety of seafarers and commercial vessels. India will continue to work with the international community to address the situation and promote peace and stability in the region.

In conclusion, the Iranian missile strike on commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz has resulted in the loss of an Indian seafarer's life and injured several others. India has summoned the Iranian Deputy Chief of Mission to protest the attack and has called for an immediate cessation of violence and a return to dialogue and diplomacy. The incident has significant implications for global trade and navigation, and India will continue to work towards restoring peace and stability in the region.
