Bhopal Adds 10 E-Buses to Fleet

Bhopal, the capital city of Madhya Pradesh, is set to expand its public transport fleet with the addition of 10 new electric buses from Monday. This takes the total number of operational e-buses in the city to 35.

The new buses will operate on three key routes, connecting major locations such as Kolar, Bairagarh, and Ashoka Garden. Of the 35 buses, 30 will be deployed on these routes, while five will be kept in reserve until the arrival of the next fleet.

The buses will operate through the MP Nagar Board Office, which will serve as the main junction for the three routes. Bhopal City Link Limited (BCLL), the agency responsible for managing the city's public transport, expects the increased fleet to improve service frequency from the existing 30-minute interval to about 15 minutes, including peak hours.

According to BCLL CEO Anju Arun Kumar, the current fleet is part of a larger plan to operate 100 e-buses across Bhopal, further expanding connectivity and reducing waiting time for passengers. The e-buses will operate from 6:30 am to 9 pm, extending their service hours into the evening.

The three routes that will get more buses are Route B-35, which connects Chirayu Hospital in Bairagarh with Aakriti Eco City in Salaiya; Route B-36, which runs between the Coach Factory area and Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Nagar on Kolar Road; and Route B-37, which connects Bairagarh E-bus Depot with ISBT via Lalghati, Hamidia Hospital, and other major locations.

The city and surrounding areas are also slated to get services on other routes, including Sukhi Sevania-Bhojpur, Atal Bihari University-RRF Camp Bagroda, and Phanda-Mandideep. With the expansion of the e-bus fleet, Bhopal is expected to see improved public transport services, reducing congestion and pollution in the city.

The addition of new e-buses is a significant step towards making Bhopal's public transport more efficient and environmentally friendly. As the city continues to grow and develop, the need for reliable and sustainable public transport becomes increasingly important.

In the coming months, BCLL plans to add more e-buses to the fleet, further expanding the city's public transport network. With the goal of operating 100 e-buses across Bhopal, the city is poised to become a model for sustainable public transport in India.

The expansion of the e-bus fleet is expected to have a positive impact on the city's residents, providing them with a reliable and efficient mode of transport. As Bhopal continues to develop and grow, the importance of a well-planned public transport system cannot be overstated.

In conclusion, the addition of 10 new e-buses to Bhopal's public transport fleet is a significant step towards making the city's transport system more efficient and environmentally friendly. With plans to add more e-buses in the coming months, Bhopal is poised to become a model for sustainable public transport in India.
