Shailendra Singh Named RERA Chairman

The selection committee for appointing the chairman of the Real Estate Regulatory Authority (RERA) has approved the name of former additional chief secretary Shailendra Singh for the post of RERA chairman. The meeting, presided over by Acting Chief Justice of the High Court Vivek Rusia, was held in Jabalpur on Thursday.

The committee, which included Chief Secretary Ashok Barnwal, additional chief secretary (urban development department) Sanjay Dubey, and law secretary, also approved the name of a former IAS officer, Sanjay Gupta, for the post of RERA member.

Shailendra Singh's tenure as chairman of RERA will be for one year and four months, as the maximum age limit for the post is 65 years. His tenure will end in December next year.

Singh has previously worked as additional chief secretary in the higher education department when Chief Minister Mohan Yadav was the higher education minister.

The post of RERA chairman had remained vacant for four months after the end of the tenure of AP Shrivastava in March. After Shrivastava's retirement, a member of RERA also retired, leaving only one member, Rashmi Agarwal, in RERA.
