Angry residents confront leaders, demand answers and bill waivers

Residents of Ravet in Pimpri-Chinchwad confronted Maval MP Shrirang Barne and Chinchwad MLA Shankar Jagtap on Wednesday over the prolonged power crisis in the area. The residents, who had been without power for nearly 48 hours, demanded answers and immediate restoration of electricity and water supply.
The situation turned heated, with Barne losing his cool during an argument with a resident. He was heard telling the resident, "Do you understand anything? Look at the situation." Residents also claimed that Barne reacted angrily when people complained about paying taxes despite poor services, reportedly saying, "Then don't pay taxes."
A similar scene unfolded during Jagtap's visit, with residents gheraoing him and raising slogans. They demanded that this month's electricity bill be waived due to the prolonged outage. Jagtap told residents that he would try to take up the demand with the authorities.
The power crisis has affected several housing societies in Ravet, disrupting water supply and forcing residents to carry water up several floors by staircase. The outage has also disrupted operations at the Ravet water pumping station, affecting water supply to several parts of Pimpri-Chinchwad. Authorities have appealed to residents to use water carefully until normal supply resumes.
Public anger has been rising over the past few days, with residents staging protests outside the MSEDCL office and accusing the power utility of failing to restore electricity.
