Pune Police Rescue Two Women From Sex Trafficking Racket

In a significant operation, the Bharati Vidyapeeth Police in Pune rescued two women who were allegedly being forced into prostitution at a lodge in Katraj. The raid was conducted at Kinara Lodge, where the women were being exploited. According to the police, they had received specific information about a sex trafficking racket being operated from the lodge.

The police investigation revealed that the accused were contacting customers through WhatsApp, sending them photographs of women, and arranging meetings at the lodge in exchange for money. To catch the accused, the police formed a special team and laid a trap using a decoy customer. Once the deal was finalised, the police raided the lodge and rescued the two women.

The police have arrested one alleged broker, Tukaram Datta Manale, 22, from the spot. However, another suspect is absconding, and efforts are underway to identify and arrest him. The police suspect that the absconding suspect played a key role in arranging customers and coordinating the operation.

The operation was carried out under the guidance of Senior Police Inspector Mansing Patil by a team led by Police Sub-Inspector Nilesh Mokashi and other police personnel. A case has been registered under the relevant provisions of the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act, and further investigation is underway to ascertain whether the racket had been operating for a longer period or had links with other locations.

The police have stated that steps are being taken to provide the rescued women with the necessary assistance as per legal procedure. The rescue operation is a significant step in the fight against sex trafficking in the region. The police are also investigating whether the racket had any links with other locations or if it was a part of a larger network.

The Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act is a law that aims to prevent and combat trafficking for commercial sexual exploitation. The law provides for the rescue and rehabilitation of victims of sex trafficking, as well as punishment for those involved in the crime.

The Pune police have been actively working to combat sex trafficking in the region, and this operation is a result of their efforts. The police are urging anyone with information about sex trafficking rackets to come forward and report it to the authorities.

In recent times, there have been several cases of sex trafficking reported in the region, and the police are taking steps to crack down on these rackets. The rescue of the two women is a positive step in this direction, and the police are hopeful that it will lead to more information and arrests in the future.

The operation highlights the importance of coordination and teamwork between law enforcement agencies in combating sex trafficking. It also underscores the need for continued efforts to raise awareness about the issue and to support victims of sex trafficking.

In conclusion, the rescue of the two women from the sex trafficking racket in Pune is a significant achievement for the police. It demonstrates their commitment to combating this serious crime and protecting the rights of victims. The police will continue to investigate and work to bring those involved in the racket to justice.
