UP Government Forms Integrated Youth Policy

The Uttar Pradesh government has decided to formulate a comprehensive youth policy aimed at addressing the aspirations and needs of young people in the 16 to 35 age group.

This move comes as the government seeks to strengthen engagement with the state's youth by designing policies aligned with their expectations in education, employment, entrepreneurship, and personal development.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath chaired a meeting with senior officials from the Youth Welfare Department and other departments to discuss the proposed integrated youth policy. He directed officials to establish an independent State Youth Commission comprising experts to monitor, evaluate, and review programmes related to youth development before the policy is finalized.

The proposed commission will regularly assess the implementation of youth-centric schemes and provide recommendations to the government. The Chief Minister also instructed all departments to ensure that every eligible young person receives the benefits of government welfare and development programmes.

Officials said the new policy will cover students, sportspersons, research scholars, startup entrepreneurs, and young professionals. It will focus on preparing youth for future opportunities while promoting their overall development.

The Chief Minister directed that the policy should include provisions related to education and skill development, entrepreneurship, employment, innovation, digital empowerment, healthcare, sports, leadership development, culture, and heritage. He said the policy should contribute to the holistic personality development of young people.

Yogi also emphasized strengthening skill development programs based on emerging technologies. He asked officials to promote training in artificial intelligence, robotics, cyber security, drone technology, semiconductors, and other high-growth sectors to prepare the state's youth for future employment opportunities.

During the meeting, the Chief Minister directed officials to expedite the establishment of the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Industrial and Employment Zone. He also asked the government to expand the Chief Minister Abhyudaya Coaching Scheme to every university and college campus across the state.

He instructed officials to ensure the participation of young IAS and IPS officers, along with other experts, in implementing the coaching program. The Chief Minister further directed officials to speed up the development of sports infrastructure across the state, including playgrounds in every gram panchayat, mini sports complexes in every block, and stadiums in every district.

The new policy and commission are expected to have a significant impact on the state's youth, providing them with opportunities for education, employment, and personal development.
