9-Year-Old Girl Raped, Murdered in Pune Village

A shocking incident has come to light in Pimpalwandi village of Junnar tehsil in Pune district, where a 9-year-old girl was allegedly raped and murdered by a 25-year-old man on Tuesday. The accused, who was acquainted with the victim, lured her into an isolated field on the pretext of eating guavas.

According to Pune Rural Superintendent of Police Sandeep Singh Gill, the accused took the girl into a field around 2 pm, telling her they would eat guavas. The field was around 1.5 km from the village settlement. The accused allegedly took the girl further inside, into a sugarcane field where a small canal flows, and sexually assaulted and murdered her.

The girl's family realised she was missing later in the evening and informed the police around 6 pm. The police immediately began looking for the girl and initially registered a kidnapping case. After questioning people in the area, they got a clue that led them to the accused, who was nabbed and questioned.

The accused confessed to raping and murdering the girl, and the police recovered the girl's body from the crime scene. The girl had been strangled, and the police added sections for murder and rape, as well as four sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

The inquest panchnama of the girl's body has been completed, and the post-mortem examination is underway. Further investigation is in progress, and the police are expected to file a chargesheet within 15 days. The villagers are demanding swift justice for the victim.
